Hi Ruediger,
My thoughts are that the OCR is a fairly isolated bug, and shouldn't
prevent us from moving forward with a formal QA effort for our next RC.
I am in complete agreement that it is a release blocker, but I don't
think it should be a RC QA blocker. And now that a fix has been
committed, it appears, to be a moot point! Thanks for alerting me about
your absence. Even if the RC is in good shape, I don't see any harm
delaying the release until the end of next week to examine memory leak
issues. Obviously a longer period of time is ideal, but institutions
are eager to install 1.1 and it has already been delayed. UCB has a
distributed system capturing every 2 hours locally, so hopefully that
will uncover any memory issues. Good luck at CeBIT!

Hi Adam,
the main bug that I see before we can cut a RC from my point of view
is the missing OCR. I tried it today on the centos machine (rev
10,039) and Denis tried it on his Mac on monday (rev 10,026). Should
this be fixed already and I miss some configuration or what is the
problem there?
The OCR feature was highly requested on the first day of CeBIT
yesterday, so that I was unfortunate that it was not working in any
1.1 version that we have yet. We tricked people with the 1.0
production system results then. By the way the demo system there is a
bild from scratch 10,017 system on Ubuntu where the OCR did not work too.
I will not be available for testing for the end of the week (because
of the CeBIT), and I don't think that less than a week would be
appropriate. We have to be sure that the servers run stable for a
"long" time without memory leaks etc. From the current QA settings we
have no idea. The longest period the servers did run without a restart
has been 2,5 days over a weekend.

Hi all,
As discussed today, we will cut the 1.1 release candidate tomorrow.
I generated a bunch of QA tasks. Please do not proceed with them
until I officially cut the tag (announcement on list). If the task
has clone in its subject leave it alone. I will generate more tasks
tomorrow and we will dedicate the remainder of the week to testing
and bug fixes. 1.2 tasks will commence as soon as we release 1.1
which should be early next week.
Thanks.
