Yeah, that seems to happen periodically with Balsamiq. It's ugly, but if you actually need to use Balsamiq, it's a good idea to always export your mockup before trying to save. That way, if it doesn't save successfully, you create a new mockup and import what you just exported, then remove the old mockup from the page. Takes a minute but saves frustration if you've spent time working on something...
