A closer look at the implementation of the "Recordings" ui reveals that the "Play" link is always shown if the workflow in question succeeded.
This behavior is based on two assumptions: 1) The workflow is about publishing the mediapackage 2) Distribution to engage is part of the workflow Now that there will be an episode service and an example "Retract" workflow [1] (which is removing the published mediapackage from all distribution channels), the "Play" link will point to an empty engage page, since the video is no longer be published. Therefore, I propose to move the "Play" link altogether and move the corresponding functionality to the episode service. In there, the distribution status is known, as it has an understanding of the current version of the mediapackage. The former "Play" link in the recordings ui could be replaced by a "Details" or "Episode" link to the current media package in the episode service.
