The Play button was never intended as a long term solution to the need for the admin to get quickly to the recording in Engage. See [1] Designs for the Recordings page did not have a "Play" button, but did have links to published media only when relevant. Those links were in the Status column (e.g. status might be "Distributed to YouTube".) See [2]. How we display the relationship between episodes/mediapackages and workflow instances in the UI will have bearing on how we provide the functionality needed. Hopefully there will be an obvious path for the user to take to see their recording in its distributed state(s).
