No, I don't want to stop using JPA.  I don't want to add in any
mysqlisms either.  What I want to suggest is that our docs and repo
contain the mysql ddl scripts, and we refer to them as our reference
implementation.  Then, we link in the docs to a "contributed" area
where other people can contribute (and say they have qa'ed/etc) other
ddl scripts.

I don't want to stop or make it difficult for people to use other DBs,
that would be horrible.  I want to make our docs clear and our
QA/codebase more solid.  So I'd like to move postgres ddl to a
contributed area as well that people can keep as up to date as they
would like.

Also, despite my teasing that postgres folks should just use mysql, I
don't actually care.  We use mysql here for the same reason rrolf
brought up (we know it better), but I'm not at all ideologically
apposed to making postgres our reference db.
