I think the "community contributed hardware page" would be a great idea. I also
made this proposal on the MH mailing list.
As for the "Reference Hardware", I think that as long as:
a) you can still purchased the various components easily
b) that there is either an understanding of the limitation/capabilities of the
referenced hardware
there is no NEED for a change.
In this case, I think that the current hardware is mostly fine with the
possible exception of MH-8505 (dropped frames using referenced hardware and
default settings), so perhaps some additional notes need to be entered into the
referenced hardware wiki page.
At the same time, it would be good to point out what "tests" need to be done if
a community member wants to try something out (and possibly add or update the
reference hardware that is probably over one year old now) - which would
hopefully spread the capture agent work to more members of the Opencast
community.
