Normally I wouldn't suggest updating gstreamer, it's fairly safe but things
could change. In general though, gstreamer will either work fine or not at all.
We still use the Sun JDK here, but yea, open jdk was Oracles plan for the
future.
This thread suggests that you might be able to disable the malloc checking, but
it doesn't really fix things:
