Hello all,

In follow-up to the java issues I experienced last week [1]:

After build was successful & java decencies were resolved, I ran into another
issue getting the Matterhorn framework started on OS X (error: Opencast
Matterhorn: gosh: stopping framework). In the end, what solved the problem on
my dev machine was to add '-Dgosh.args=--noi' to
'/opt/matterhorn/felix/bin/start_matterhorn.sh'. However, it took me quite some
time to figure this out–Google-ing the error codes; digging through past
Opencast mailing list posts [2].

In short, because of the java and start-up issues, it took me the better part
of 2.5 weeks to get 1.3 running on OS X (working off and on during may spare
time). The information that was needed to resolve the issues were not present
in the install docs for OS X.

So my question would be whether the install documentation for 1.3 (and
subsequent versions) should be updated with additional info so that the OS X
install process is less cumbersome and time intensive. This may require
pointing out OS X specific config items (i.e. the java problem I ran into; java
environment variables) in the install docs. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Brian
