this is a wide shot, but it might be worth while to also run the test
recordings with confidence monitoring enabled; I'd wishfully hope the
crashes there happen for some similar reason and in my experience they
happen more often, thus increasing the "reproducability".
but then again, I have no evidence for this suggestion.
