A bit of a sidetrack maybe, but if anyone is interested: To ease the
installation and maintenance for institutions using git we created this
daily updated mirror using Jenkins while dreaming of a official Git
repo. Just for download, it's not possible to push to our repo.

I would -1 any proposal to switch from svn to git as long as there
isn't someone who has committed to fixing all of these issues (a list
that may not be complete).
Sub optimal but working > optimal but broken.
