The Advanced Simulation and Computing Program (ASC) unites the high performance computing expertise and capabilities of the national labs responsible for ensuring the safety, security and reliability of the nation’s stockpile of nuclear weapons without testing. ASC, also known as Tri-Labs consists of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) and Sandia National Laboratories. ASC currently has the number 1, 3, 6 and 9 largest systems in the TOP500 Supercomputing list, as well as dozens of other systems equating to approximately 25% of the TOP500’s total CPU count (www.top500.org). “Cluster Resources is honored to be selected by ASC,” said David Jackson, CEO of Cluster Resources, Inc. “There is no organization in the world which matches the technical expertise and scope of compute systems found at ASC in terms of scalability and architectural complexity.” This agreement brings two industry leaders together. ASC is widely acknowledged for their leadership in successfully deploying next-generation massive architectures, networks and storage solutions, as well as their research and expertise in scalable middleware. Cluster Resources provides industry leadership in intelligent workload and resource management that orchestrates compute, network, and storage resources, in order to maximize utilization, availability and responsiveness. The ASC/Cluster Resources partnership will push innovation boundaries for the Supercomputing / High Performance Computing (HPC) industry on both current and future leadership-class systems. “Partnerships such as this one are a key element of the ASC Program’s success in pushing the frontiers of high performance scientific computing,” said Brian Carnes, Service and Development Division leader at LLNL. “Only by working with leading innovators in HPC can we develop and maintain the large scale systems and increasingly complex simulation environments vital to our national security missions.” To read the press release in its entirety, visit http://www.clusterresources.com/asc ******************************************************** Cluster Resources Attending GridWorld in Washington D.C. Come and discuss the future of grids with Cluster Resources. Cluster Resources will have a booth at the GridWorld Exhibit Showcase in Washington D.C. on September 12 and 13. If you are attending this event, we invite you to come by our booth and interact with Cluster Resources staff, see how you can quickly and easily migrate to a grid environment with Moab, view grid technology demos, and learn about evaluating Moab Grid Suite. The booth is located in Room 151, Booth 20. For those who have not registered and are still thinking about attending, contact us and as a friend of Cluster Resources, we can provide you with a 20% discount on the registration cost. The new version of Moab Access Portal will offer a variety of significant implementations and improvements. Simplifying the installation process, the Linux distribution of Moab Access Portal comes embedded with Java and the servlet engine Tomcat. The new version has improved submission screens, which are more intuitive, making it easier for users to create scripts on-the-fly. 4.5.0 also offers the improved reading of large messages for jobs and nodes, using tool-tips. Additionally, Cluster Resources eradicated possible security vulnerabilities, improved the memory footprint, and fixed other small bugs. Moab Access Portal provides universally accessible job submission to Moab Workload Manager and empowers end users with Web-based job submission, an intuitive graphical interface and the other tools they need to track and manage their own workload. Cluster Resources encourages all Moab users to take advantage of the new Access Portal features, patches and upgrades. Hardware vendors, software vendors, entrepreneurs or any institution with an HPC hardware infrastructure can use Moab Hosting Suite to leverage their resources to increase their bottom line. Once Hosting Suite is configured, it can automatically bill and allocate resources per customer request. Previous hosting center models required manual set up for each customer environment. That process could take from a week to a month or more, per customer request. However, after Moab is set up it can automatically create environments per customer request. By taking a few weeks at the beginning to set up a hosting center with Moab, you won't have to take a few weeks to set up a hosting environment for each individual customer. Hosting center applications stretch as far as ingenuity. Software vendors can rent out licenses by the hour. Hardware vendors can turn excess inventory into revenue. Universities, businesses or any other institution with HPC infrastructure can subsidize the cost of their system. Moab facilitates these and many other possibilities by automating several administrative functions.
