Thanks, Juan ... I was also able to run Mauve 2.3.0 sucessfully on an Intel Mac with OS X 10.4.11, so the issue does seem to lie with PowerPC. I haven't been able to test a PowerPC Mac with OS X 10.5.x.
Mauve 2.2 does work on a PowerPC/OS X 10.4.11, but that version doesn't have the move contigs tool.
