Hello.
I am new to Linux. I just bought and installed YDL 2.0 on my G3 beige
desktop. I did not buy support from Terra Soft (maybe I should have...) I
didn't seem to have any problems with installation, but I can't print
anything yet or get Linux to recognize my modem yet.
I have a HP LaserJet 1100 printer that I use PowerPrint to get my Mac to
print to. It has the cable adapters and driver translations that the MAC OS
8.6 needs to print to it.
I guess YDL did not recognize the printer during installation. When I am in
KDE desktop, I can not print anything. All I get is a dialog box that says:
"Unable to parse the "/etc/printcap" file. Please email your printcap to
[EMAIL PROTECTED]" I do not know what the printcap is. How do I email it?
What should I do?
I do not know where to go to set up the printer manually (I'm hoping that
there will be a way for Linux to print to that printer!). Please tell me
what to do...
Also, Netscape in Linux does not recognize my modem yet. My G3 came with an
internal 56K flex modem that works fine with 8.6. YDL offers 3-4 modem
choices in the modem configure window when I try to set up the modem
manually. I do not know which modem to pick! They are all labeled in such a
way that I don't know which one to pick.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
