Hello.
I am still new to Linux on my G3 beige desktop. I have a HP LaserJet 1100
printer that the Mac OS 8.6 prints to beautifully using PowerPrint software
and cables.
I installed YDL 2.0 on my machine last week. I have not been successful in
getting anything to my printer yet in Linux.
I have read many things on some HOW TO pages regarding printer installation.
I have figured out how to start and stop Terminal sessions, and I have
started printtool and set up one lp default printer using the included HP
LaserJet driver.
Since my Mac prints to a serial port, I have tried the following settings in
printtool:
Names lp
Spool Directory /var/spool/lpd/lp
File Limit 0
Printer Device /dev/ttyS1
I then restart ldp session in the printtool window, and I try to send the
ASCII test page under TESTS to the printer.
Nothing happens at all.
Since I am trying to print to a serial port from the Mac, I think more may
need to be set up by me, but I don't know what else.
Can anyone who has worked with something similar to this setup help me? I
would really appreciate it! Thanks.
