Hmmm. Type cat /etc/printcap and send the output to the list.

Possibly. You may need to set the port's data rate, flow control,
and so on. Use the stty command for this. For example, if you
know the printer is expecting data at 9600 bps, try:
stty 9600 < /dev/ttyS1
(Strange as it looks, that's the way you do it.) There are other
flags that may be important, depending on your printer.
Anyway, once you get the port working right, put the command in
/etc/rc.d/rc.local so it automatically gets executed when you
boot up.
