Hello.

I am having trouble getting my Linux to recognize my Mac serial ports.

I have a beige desktop G3 with 320 RAM running OS 8.6. I bought a 2nd drive
to run Linux off of. I have the standard 56K internal modem and I use a HP
LaserJet1100 printer with PowerPrint software and a cable adaptor. I bought
and installed YDL2.0. Everything seems to work except my printer and modem.

I have read much on the printing HOWTOs. I have tried working with
printtool. I can change printcap, but Linux never seems to recognize or find
my serial port. When I start printtool, it does not detect any printers
connected to any ports. When I try sending the plain ASCII text test page
out to my printer directly to the serial port, nothing happens (no lights,
nothing). I have tried /dev/ttyS0, dev/ttyS1, dev/ttyS2, etc.

Similar results with my internal modem. The modem set up in KDE does not
detect any modem on any port.

Is there anyone out there that has run across anything like this in the
past? I have tried every hint that I have seen in various on-line help
lists, but I haven't figured out my problem yet. I would greatly appreciate
any help (at least getting my printer to work!). Thank you.
