One thing I'd like you to qualify- what do you mean by 'nicely' and 
'like cr*p'?

As fast as OS 9.x on the same system? Or do you mean accuracy of the 
automated setup during install?

The limiting performance factor for most Linux installations running 
Xwindows is RAM, not processor speed- 128 MB minimum.

The only machine that disappointed me with performance was a 50 MHz 
486 with 16 MB of RAM running Slackware 3.0 (kernel 1.2), Windows 3.1 
performed better. A 8100/110 running YDL 2.0 was OK (better than 9.x, 
not as fast as 8.6).
