That's pretty much it. I have a similar setup, at least for now. Using 
BootX, booting Linux has always worked better for me using the startup 
selection screen rather than starting Linux from the control panel. It 
isn't a true triple-boot, where you can go directly to whichever OS you 
want at startup, but it works.

I've put up with the hassle primarily because I'm only booting into Linux 
to pick up any files I missed when moving to OSX, and I've only had to do 
that once in some months. I'm dropping Linux on my Mac (but continue to 
run it on a Pentium laptop).
