I just tried the recommended kernel arguments (see below) for YDL 2.3 on a Wallstreet G3/266 with a 14.1" display:
video=atyfb:vmode:10 When YDL started up to run the install and these args were passed, I get the top 2/3 of the screen mirrored on the bottom 1/3 of the screen. Are kernel arguments in general unnecessary during the install, or is there a better setting to use? The reason I ask is because I found this table of suggested kernel arguments: http://lppcfom.sourceforge.net/fom-serve/cache/1043.html It would appear that I should use these args instead to achieve my goal of 1024x768 at millions of colors: video=atyfb:vmode:14,cmode:24 Does this sound more on target? Any suggestions would be welcome -- I can't seem to google the right answer on this one. I normally run NetBSD on 68k Macs without XFree and I've only installed YDL 2.3 on a handful of 7300s at work, so this is new territory for me. I also found someone with a similar PowerBook here: http://www.stimuli.ca/linux/ And their kernel args were very similar to the ones I suspect I should use: video=atyfb:vmode:14,cmode:24,mclk:75 And another similar page here: http://www.vsl.gifu-u.ac.jp/freeman/misc/HTML/ppc/manual/node81.html Where their settings are exactly like what I suspect I should be using: video=atyfb:vmode:14,cmode:24 Again, any shove in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
