You did re-install the extensions with XPF after the install was done? It
won't boot unless you do the re-install.

The OS 9.x Startup Disk control panel does not work well setting OS X as
the boot volume on Old World machines. I use XPF or the System Disk
application to do that.

My 233 beige G3 with "ATI,mach64_3DU" graphics as reported by System
Profiler runs OSX.
