OK, I am not sure if this is considered on topic or not. But I need some help. I have a NeXTstation, its an '040 based system, has a 1.2GB SCSI drive [pulled from a 7100] and formatted as unallocated space. I have connected an external Apple 2x CD ROM drive to it and tried to boot from a NeXTSTEP 3.0 CD [this version is supported on this computer]. It is my understanding one boots from CD by holding down the ESC key. Doing this results in a "system check failed" message during boot up. If I do not attempt to boot from CD ROM I get the same result. If I remove the SCSI hard drive the NeXTstation attempts to search the network for an image to boot from.

Help?

David
