Hi James, your sapdbxie call seems to be ok. The error messages occures because sapdbxie has been registered with the installation. If you want you can check this by un-registering and re-registering (sapdbxie -u and sapdbxie -i). You do not have to add webdav for registration, just go to your web\pgm directory and call sapdbxie -i.
To solve the WebDAV connect problem you should check again the session parameters. If you want you can send me an export of your registry path "SOFTWARE\SAP\SAP DBTech\WebAgent75", so I can check this for you. The ODBC driver name shoud be "SAP DB". Don't get confused with the parameter serverDB and serverNode. Check also your SYSDBA. Is it DBA? Have you assigned the session pool name (WebDAV by default) to the webdav service? Today I tried a fresh installation again. This time I turned off all other db servers (MySQL, Intersystems Cache & SQL Server MSDE), my firewall (Norton Internet Security) & my anti-virus (Norton). They all remained disabled throughout the installation. I followed the instructions *exactly* as given in the documentation. The WebDAV service apparently starts but I still can't connect. WebDAV.log still insists it can't connect to the database. In wa.log I see the following message: [2003/12/12 13:49:41] Scanning ini-file: Success [2003/12/12 14:02:55] WAHTTP_WebAgent.c: sapw3_as->SendHeader failed. [2003/12/12 14:02:55] WAHTTP_WebAgent.c: sapw3_as->SendHeader failed. In httperr.log, we see the following: [12/Dec/2003:13:34:36]: Starting ErrLog (build 121-054-885)[WAHTTP_Log.c: 205] [12/Dec/2003:13:34:36]: Listening on IP on port 9999[WAHTTP_Server.c: 1181] [12/Dec/2003:13:34:36]: DocumentRoot is: c:\maxdb\sdb\programs\web\Documents[WAHTTP_FileAgent.c: 143] [12/Dec/2003:13:34:36]: Init: Initialized[WAHTTP_Server.c: 1203] [12/Dec/2003:13:34:36]: Init: starting Web Server[WAHTTP_Server.c: 1353] [12/Dec/2003:13:34:36]: starting service loop[WAHTTP_Server.c: 958] [12/Dec/2003:13:48:59]: terminating service loop[WAHTTP_Server.c: 962] [12/Dec/2003:13:48:59]: terminated[WAHTTP_Server.c: 1416] [12/Dec/2003:13:49:41]: Starting ErrLog (build 121-054-885)[WAHTTP_Log.c: 205] [12/Dec/2003:13:49:41]: Listening on IP on port 9999[WAHTTP_Server.c: 1181] [12/Dec/2003:13:49:41]: DocumentRoot is: c:\maxdb\sdb\programs\web\Documents[WAHTTP_FileAgent.c: 143] [12/Dec/2003:13:49:41]: Init: Initialized[WAHTTP_Server.c: 1203] [12/Dec/2003:13:49:41]: Init: starting Web Server[WAHTTP_Server.c: 1353] [12/Dec/2003:13:49:41]: starting service loop[WAHTTP_Server.c: 958] Which looks correct. I have checked all the parameters I used in the registry etc and they are all apparently OK (connecting to the correct database instance PROTODB - which is running). My only doubt is about the definition of the WebDAV ODBC. There is nothing in the installation manual about this. I have tried both user and system DSNs with no success and I have tried both the MaxDB and SAP DB drivers (with standard and Unicode variants), also with no success. The other Web services (DBM and SQL) don't need an ODBC connection which makes me very suspicios about defining one for WebDAV, but then leaving out the definition doesn't appear to work either! Another piece of information is that when I try the command sapdbxie -i WebDAV I get the message [WARNING] Service registration failed! Could not register service at description store: Could not open session to registry DB [ERROR] Service insllation failed: Overlapped I/O operation is in progress. [997] I checked the configuration file and it is pointing to the correct part of the registry. To check I put in the full path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP\SAP DBTech\XIE\SAPDBXIE in the conf file and received the error I expected (namely, that it couldn't find the registry entry SAPDBXIE). Help! PS. My IP Address is set by DHCP from my provider - just in case this makes a difference (unlikely since the other web services talk to the loopback address 127.0.0.1, i.e. localhost, and are working fine).
