Hi Stephen,
for the db_activate you do not need (must not use) the user&password.
db_activate RECOVER completeFile
is enough.
If this isn't the fault, please send me the file dbm.utl
from your failed recovery and if possible, the file dbm.utl
of your main system, which contains the result of the backup-
command.

Any other things you notice missing / incorrect in my script? I seem to have the
worst luck with syntax changes to the restore process.
