Hello Tobias, You have to create some scripts and would lose either some comfort of the NetWorker connection supplied by the MaxDB tools or loose a bit of security that can be compensated for by checking your backups regularly. If the result is worth such effort, the next question would be, what OS you are using.
As your are using R/3, you are a regular SAP customer. Therefore I have to advise you to open a OSS message at SAP regarding your question.
