I am running FC4/x86_64, which ships with gcc4. I will rebuild gcc3 if I
have to, but I'm hoping to avoid it.

Unfortunately, I am a Java programmer by trade so C++ template syntax
debugging is over my head right now. The following error repeats in one
form or another for quite a while. I will be glad to follow-up with any
parts of the build log that are necessary.

This is output from `imf.pl kernel.shm', BTW.
