Err, that sounds a bit strange - unless you mean resize to zero. :-)

Or is the content copied to other volumes before the drop?

You can't resize a data volume, neither expand nor shrink.
In 7.6 you can delete a volume, the data currently on this volume will
be copied to the remaining volumes in your data area (yes, trust me :-) ).

If you want to shrink a volume, you have to add another but smaller one
and delete the old afterwards.
