Federated is a MySQL Storage Engine. The Federated storage engine
currently supports only accessing other MySQL databases using the MySQL
Client API (C-Interface).
Federated is available in the MySQL-Max distributions. The -Max
distribution contain some more storage engines than then regular MySQL
builds. But MySQL-Max != MaxDB!
