Tilo,
I saw that earlier but my config file does exist in the directory. I am
not sure why it is not picking it up? I changed the location of the file
earlier this morning but it does not seem to pick it up. Do I have to do
anything special in order for the config file to see the new variable?

Thanks

Hello John,

Looking at the last backup attempt (2006-03-02 09:56:56) one can see the
error message "The file
'/sapdb/data/wrk/config/logs/backint_adapter.config' does not exists."
So far, you have taken step 3 of
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/maxdb/en/83/f718a89e867446a29f5d822c409efa/fram
eset.htm . The missing file is described in step 2.

Tilo,
Yes I am trying to use Veritas NBU tool via the backint program. I am
sure my configuration is incorrect. Please see the attached. I would
really like to write to tape. But I just want to get something working
via backint. So I am trying the pipe. I initially tried to write to file
but it told me that was not one of the choices.

Thanks

Hello John,

By creating a backup medium with a name starting with the four magic
letters BACK, you are trying - willingly or unwillingly - to use a
backup tool that supports the Backint for MaxDB/Backint for Oracle
interface. If you are not trying to use such a third party tool I would
suggest to rename the backup medium into something not starting with
BACK. If you are trying to use such a backup tool your backup tool
configuration files are not yet correct. If the latter is the case,
please send file dbm.ebl to the mailing list, so that we can sort those
problems out.

Subject: Backup_start error

I have done the following to try and get the backup_start to execute.

* created a backup medium (to pipe)
* created the config file with minimal parameters
*       enter the commands:

dbmcli -d dbname -u uid,pwd
util_connect
backup_start BACKMAXDB DATA

I get the error :

-24925,ERR_PREPARE: preparation of backup operation failed Can not
create file 'FOR'.
(System error 13; Permission denied)

There is no indication as to what directory is having the problem with
the permission denied

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance
