Hello Michael, SQL Studio is written in Visual Basic and pending on some 32-bit controls of Microsoft. I have to check if these controls cause the problems with the SQLStudioDSQL on Windows Vista.
You can avoid the effect that the installer tries to update from version 7.5.0.0 after a corrupt installation. In the directory <Program Files>\InstallShield Installation Information you should find directories with hex-char-names. Find the one that contains a Setup.ini file with the entry AppName=SQL Studio. Please delete this directory. A final solution for your problem should be provided when Windows Vista in not a beta release anymore. (!) Cleaning the registry from any reference to SQL Studio and redo from start doesn't help either. Any valuable comment appreciated, especially on required 64bit OS and corresponding installation/version hints for SQL Studio / DBM GUI. Do I just run the wrong versions of SQL Studio and/or DBM GUI, or is indeed the immaturity of Vista/64bit the cause of trouble? Hm... its already the RC1 version of Vista.
