first of all. I was searching for a long time for a small and easy document
management system for my private use. I did several installations for
enterprises therefore I think I have some higher requirements. In the end I
was really happy to find mayan-edms as a free solution and very
configurable to my needs.
I did download the Appliance and imported to a virtual box in my running
ubuntu. Everything works smooth and I tried a bit now. Several questions
which I didn't found in any FAQ or the Google Mailing Lists had come up and
I hope you can give me the one or other answer to it.
1. When I log in to the appliance with mayan/edms I get a hint that a
new release is available. When I do the upgrade with 'sudo
do-release-upgrade' it will do the upgrade an a reboot, but everything with
mayan edms is lost then. What is the correct way in upgrading the appliance
as well as mayan itself?
2. How can I customize the settings described in this documentation:
https://mayan.readthedocs.org/en/latest/topics/customization.html
I cannot find the correct files to do this customization, maybe because
I'm not familiar with python an such sort of things. I searched for
settings files in /usr/share/mayan/mayan but didn't get through
Hope you can give me some hints how to act with your solution, because I
really like it. But it seems to me that I need to much to know about
further things like python, apache, etc.
