Hi, thank you for this recommendation. This is now the behavior in regards with optional metadata (https://gitlab.com/mayan-edms/mayan-edms/commit/9da4710c0f58ac7ef50fc9dae9eaa417c72c6f23). This will be available in version 2.1 (end of april/may).
