Hi all, Firstly, thanks Prabhu, for telling me about working with mayavi.tools.mlab. It's perfect for the way I like to work.
Now I have new problem with mayavi (which I'm running from a recent svn). Whenever I try to save snapshots from the render window I get out garbage files like the one attached. The pattern of the lines is affected by the actual image, i.e. rotation does change the output garbage, but re-capturing the same image does not. Screen rendering is still fine, so I've been able to take screen captures without problem, and that's fine for stills. However, now I'd like to render a reasonable number of movie frames, and built-in snapshot capabilities would be appreciated. Am I missing some libraries, doing something wrong, or is this a [known] bug? A couple of other data points that may help: 1) the problem exists with all image formats, i.e. specifying snapshot.jpg also gives similar garbage); 2) tvtk.tools.mlab does not have this problem - i.e. its snapshot facility works okay; 3) in my attempts to generate test cases I did get it to save 1 (out of about 12) correct snapshots, but couldn't replicate that. Thanks again, Angus. -- AJC McMorland, PhD Student Physiology, University of Auckland
