Now, the Lion restriction is that you can't read or write to a file 
unless you are a root user? That's a higher permission than just 
regular admin (that is, normal one-person user), right?

So, given just regular past code that assumes that you can read and 
write files in the System Preferences, Lion prevents you from writing 
AND reading? Or just writing?
