You did wait some time to load the video?

I'm actually not sure whether this works. 

For me, the functions work with local video:

  dim f as FolderItem = SpecialFolder.Desktop.Child("test.m4v")
  dim q as new QTKitMovieMBS(f)
  
  q.time = new QTKitTimeMBS(600, 600) // 1 second
  
  Backdrop = q.currentFrameImage.CopyPictureWithMask
