The new plugin does not init when loading. It inits when you call initialize. Or when you call one of the PortMidiMBS functions including the constructor. So you can show a dialog "Initializing Midi..." and put a note on the dialog "if it freezes, clear plugins for MIDI." And than call it when dialog is visible to make sure the user sees message.
