Job responsibilities: 1) Cell culture - isolation and progagtion of human and animal cells 2) Western blots, SDS-PAGE, Electrophoretic Mobility Shift Assay (EMSA), ELISA, radio-isotope, fluorescent and antibody labeling 3) Tissue processing and homogenization for protein and RNA extraction 4) Immunoprecipitation and nuclear extraction for proteins 5) Animal procedures - anesthesia, euthanasia, skin excision for wounding model, upkeep and care of rodents 6) Record and compute data, perform statistical analysis 7) Ordering and maintenance of lab supplies. Research projects study the involvement of the Hypoxia-inducible factor-1 pathway in delayed diabetic wound healing. Other projects will study the involvement of Homeobox genes in wound healing.
