1.      MCB C145, Genomics, now available for enrollment

We have just added a new course to the curriculum, MCB C145, which
will be taught in Spring 2006 on TuTh 11-12:30, CCN #58539, 110
Barker.  I've listed a very brief syllabus below so that you can see
the content of the course.  This counts as a course that satisfies
Elective B in the GG & D major. It has only MCB 102 or 110 as
pre-reqs, so should appeal to many of you.

Genomics -- Molecular And Cell Biology  (MCELLBI) C145 [4 units]

Prerequisites: MCELLBI 102 or MCELLBI 110

Description: In-depth introduction to genomics, including genome
sequencing; bioinformatics; sequence annotation and analysis; complex
trait mapping; DNA microarrays and their uses; proteomics; structural

2.      Volunteers needed for mcbUSA Shadow Day

mcbUSA is looking for volunteers to lead a tour for high school
students on Shadow Day, November 18th. The campus tour will take
place from 10:00 - 11:30. We are also looking for people who would
like to participate in the student panel on Shadow Day from 1:30 -
2:30. Students of all years may volunteer. Thanks!
