1.      2 Volunteer Opportunities

Interested in Community Health? Speak Spanish? Want to work in
Dentistry? Want to use your skills to provide direct service,
regardless of your career goal?

Livermore Community Dental Care (LCDC) is an
organization of dentists practicing in Livermore who
are trying to provide dental services to Livermore
elementary school students in need.  On Saturday,
February 25, LCDC is planning a local Give Kids a
Smile Day, in which volunteer dentists plan to restore
as many teeth as possible in this population.  We will
need volunteer translators who speak fluent Spanish.
There might also be other days when translators are
needed.

Volunteer Research Opportunity in Immigrant Latina Health- a great
chance to get health-related field experience!

Volunteer job description:
Volunteer will help recruit participants and conduct face-to-face
interviews for a study investigating the relationship between social
support and reproductive health outcomes in 15-24 year old Latina
immigrants. Interviews will be conducted in Spanish, at one of 2
clinic sites (one in the Mission neighborhood of San Francisco, and
another in Fruitvale Village, Oakland). Interview training will be
provided, and travel compensation can be arranged.

Time commitment: 5-10 hours/week, for 12 weeks (beginning in March 2006)

Minimum Requirements:
Fluent in Spanish (Native speaker preferred)
Bachelor Degree (Or currently pursuing a Bachelor Degree)
Basic computer skills

Additional appreciated skills/experience:
Previous public health or clinical research experience
