Our group's research interests include elucidating function in brain circuits which underlie food intake, with a particular interest in neural processing related to gustatory encoding of deliciousness. We presently have an opening for a curious, responsible, and hard-working volunteer to participate in an ongoing study of the neuropeptides that contribute to encoding this sensory property of food. This position will offer the opportunity for extensive hands-on experience in behavioral training (working with rodents), histology, immunohistochemistry and stereotactic techniques. This is an excellent opportunity to gain research experience working on a well-defined and focused project, with opportunities for earning a good letter of recommendation, and potentially for co-authorship on a scientific publication (two previous research volunteers have co-authored scientific publications in our lab). The ideal candidate is a biology major with classroom and lab experience in neuroscience, who is interested in extending a summer volunteer experience through the coming school year, perhaps as an honors project. Interested candidates should forward a CV which includes their GPA, relevant coursework and experience, and academic references to Lillian Lee at [EMAIL PROTECTED] More information about the Ernest Gallo Clinic and Research Center can be found at <>www.egcrc.org.
