The mission of the UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive 
(BAM/PFA) is to inspire the imagination and ignite critical dialogue

Responsibilities: The BAM/PFA website is a database-driven site built 
on a relational multi-table FileMaker Pro 8.0 database. The site uses 
PHP to connect the back-end database to the public web. The site uses 
CSS to maintain a consistent visual design. The site also includes an 
occasional static HTML page. The site includes more than the usual 
amount of images, and also includes podcast audio and video. The site 
includes several advanced features such as an integrated search of 
90,000 research records, e-commerce for book and ticket sales and 
online membership purchases, email-this-page scripts, RSS feeds, 
presentation of complex online art projects, etc.

With a great deal of initiative and independence, the Web Producer 
leads, plans, and manages the BAM/PFA website and other multimedia 
projects intended for the public.
Serves as project manager for BAM/PFA website and point person in the 
BAM/PFA for all web-related activity. Supervises technical and web 
support staff.

-Coordinates projects such as: re-conceiving content proposals, 
finding and solving technical problems, researching or planning 
re-designs, requests to update the website
-Manage related work and information flow, project timelines, and 
ensuring quality control and deadlines are met
-Implement and oversee implementation including: creating webpages 
and web graphics, stylesheets, and scripts; entering data and text 
into webpages and web database; editing and proofing text, and 
reviewing content
-Create template pages and other web interfaces to underlying web database
-Act as liaison with museum and campus colleagues
-Initiate changes including minor and major re-designs, back-end 
technical, workflow/information flow, and content changes
-Ensure that all website content is accurate and appropriate for the web
-Ensure web design, architecture, and interface are suitable for a 
wide variety of end-users
-Develop annual budget recommendations -Monitor expenditures, and 
report on costs

Requirements and Qualifications: -Extensive knowledge of website 
development, preferably in museums, arts organizations, or higher 
education

-Proven project management skills
-Advanced knowledge of web languages such as HTML, DHTML, XML, CSS, 
web-scripting languages like Javascript and web-graphics software 
like Fireworks
-Proficiency with PHP, FileMaker Pro database, Mac OS X; and basic 
familiarity with office software (Eudora, Word, Safari)
-Highly developed writing and editing skills and attention to detail
-Fluent in written and verbal English
-Highly organized and self-directed
-Ability to collaborate, negotiate and communicate effectively with 
non-technical staff
-Ability to juggle and switch between several different types of 
tasks on any given day
  -Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions
-Accurate color perception and visual acuity -Capacity to learn new 
technical skills quickly and adeptly as new technologies evolve
-Expert knowledge about current developments in the web and related 
technology industries

Salary: Salary competitive, with an excellent benefits package
