At MCN 2007 in Chicago there will be a panel introducing the UPDIG "Museum
Best Practices" for submitting digital files for publication.
Imaging professionals from 13 museums have formed a study group called
ImageMuse to work on this and related issues.

Here is the Library Congress announcement via the UPDIG chair, Richard
Anderson:


The Library of Congress has awarded a grant to the ASMP Digital Standards
Committee through NDIIPP [National Digital Information Infrastructure and
Preservation Program].

The main features of the ASMP grant will be to expand UPDIG  with these
goals:

1. Determine and develop refined production workflows.
2. Determine best practice Digital Asset Management & archiving methods.
3. Determine best practice guidelines for digital photography based on image
usage and capture methods.
4. Upgrade the UPDIG website with more screen shots and video tutorials.
5. Promote UPDIG with a booth at PhotoPlus 2007 & 2008.
6. Create traveling educational seminars. [10 day & 10 evening events].

Position: Web Developer
 
Mediatrope is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Web Developer to join our
growing team immediately as a contract to full-time employee.  As part of
our team, you will be defining the next generation of client-managed,
database-driven Web sites.  Work with producers, designers, and others on
your project team to create innovative projects for the nation?s leading
educational and cultural organizations such as the Smithsonian, New York
University, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
 
Qualifications
?  3+ years of programming experience.
?  Solid background in server-side scripting (ASP, ColdFusion, and/or PHP).
?  Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database technologies.
?  Background in XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript ?  Cross-browser and
cross-platform programming experience.
?  Ability to work with minimal supervision.
?  Fast learner, highly detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
?  BS degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
?  AJAX, XML, XSL, Flash, ActionScript, and Photoshop experience a plus.
 
Responsibilities
?  Participating in project discovery work related to implementation
planning.
?  Producing all work on schedule and in compliance with office standards
and project specifications, including functionality and browser testing
during development.
?  Meeting regularly with both project team and office-wide development
team.
?  Planning and implementing short-term and long-term internal IT projects.
?  Administering and maintaining company hardware and software
infrastructure.
?  Regular professional education and knowledge extension, including the use
of new software applications and programming languages.
