Calling all CAL SIG members,

Margaret and Diana, CAL SIG Co-Chairs, have entrusted me to organize
a CAL SIG "basket" for the silent auction and take the
SIG-contribution-challenge Diane threw out there this morning. As a
VRA SoCal Chapter basket veteran, I believe I'm qualified to take on
this task! Ideas, items, and contributions of any sort are most
welcome. Here are a few items popular in the past: art, jewelry,
kitsch, clothing, stationary, food, wine, books, music, and DVDs,
usually made in, set in, or about CA (but this is not a requirement).
Although clearly we have to include some CA microbrew to keep up with
the IP SIG! The sky is the limit and so let your creative juices flow
since this will greatly benefit the MCN organization and its members.
If you are interested in donating something characteristically
California to this auction entry, please contact me at
maburns at uci.edu or 949-UCI-8027. Once I have some idea of the scale
of the largesse, I can make a more informed decision about whether it
will be in a basket, a tote, a suitcase, or whatever! Please just
give me a general idea of what you are bringing to help me to figure
the container out. I live in SoCal, but will be staying at the Westin
(to avoid traffic!) and attending the entire conference, so you can
leave me messages and connect with me there without too much trouble.
We will have to have it altogether by midday on Friday, I assume, but
you can always bring it or catch me after the session I'm co-chairing
with Trudy Levy from 1:30-3:00 Friday, Trying to Tame the Many-Headed
DAM, as a last-ditch effort (after all Pasadena is a shoppers
paradise!). Thank you in advance for your consideration and
assistance. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Best regards,
Maureen
