The Cleveland Museum of Art is in the midst of major renovation and construction planning and design. As part of this process we have completed a technology "basis of design" specification, covering old and new areas which encompasses;VoIP;converged network infrastructure;modified gird/matrix approach to network to assure load balancing and redundancy; full wireless deployment to complement wired; a-v/distance learning/multimedia delivery capabilities. We have developed a technology team approach to address these issues which transcended the approach usually prescribed by architects/contractors which might be of interest. We are also in the process of developing an A/V master plan which should be integrated with the rest of IT.. not to mention security, which can utilize similar pathways, acoustical considerations, electronic signage, etc.
It isnt easy, and part of the challenge is to identify where boutique or specialist consultants who can help identify prospective problems and cost effective solutions. Feel free to contact me offline to discuss our experience further. We are interested in incorporating appropriate technology pathways and services in the new infrastructure, especially for interactive gallery devices for visitors. We would like to hear from MCN members who have been down this road, and who can recommend a few knowledgeable people who are on top of this subject.
