Denver, CO , November 25, 2003 ö Liz Bishoff, who has served as Executive Director of the Colorado Digitization Program (CDP) since its inception in 1998, is leaving that position as of December 12, 2003 to assume responsibility as Vice President of Digital Collections and Preservation Services at OCLC. Her new role, which is effective January 8, 2004, will enable her to continue national leadership in the digital library community. Ms. Bishoff was with OCLC for eleven years prior to joining the CDP, including service in the position of Vice President for Member Services.
Nancy Allen, Dean and Director of the University of Denver Penrose Library, and Chair of the Board of the Colorado Digitization Program, will serve as Interim Executive Director until the Board launches a search after the New Year. Nancy Allen has been serving as Principal Investigator on the major Institute for Museum and Library Services grants supporting Colorado Digitization Program projects, including the Western Trails project and the Teaching with Coloradoâs Heritage project. Currently, Ms. Allen is P.I. for an IMLS grant (working with the Colorado State Library and the Colorado Historical Society) designed to demonstrate a state-wide approach to capture and display of historic newspapers.
The Colorado Digitization Program brings together digitized materials from all corners of the state to ensure public access to the rich cultural heritage resources in Colorado. Participants include libraries, archives, schools, historical societies, and museums that participate in programs to make their important collections related to Colorado history, culture, nature, science, government and industry available via the Internet. The CDP provides assistance to the cultural heritage community through best practice guidelines, workshops, and by encouraging collaborative partnerships.
