Rob, Sounds like a great idea! I think I might broaden the question beyond FileMaker and ask what "open-source" projects for museum functions are out there. The digitization community is developing tools like DSpace and Fedora as open-source models. Who's going to develop and support the equivelent "MSpace" (museum space?) and will it be something that museums will be able to implement without a gaggle of programmers?
Interoperability between commercial software packages seems to be improving. Something for the Metadata SIG to consider is which, metadata standards should be used when developing home-grown FMP or Access databases.
