Also - If you are planning on scanning many 35mm slides, I highly recommend purchasing a Nikon Coolscan 4000 or 8000.
35mm slides on lower end flatbed scanners return less than professional results.

I'm thinking in the $400-$1000 range. This scanner will produce collections photography (not for publication quality) for the Registrar's Office and will likely get very heavy useage.
