Hi, I am a cataloging librarian for a science museum library, about 20,000 items. We plan to automate our collection by the end of 2005.
To date, we have identified two potential products: EOSWeb and Cybertools for Libraries. Both require a never-ending financial licensing commitment. With a very tight budget, open source software is very appealing, especially since we have an in-house IT department eager to help. A potential drawback is that the IT personnel have no understanding of MARC format. Anyone with a comparable library description care to share wisdom/insight/experience? It would be greatly appreciated.
