For video throughout the museum Brightsign is used here, but for signage I
have been working with a product called Navori (I also used it back in San
Diego). The software works with any type of windows/android PC or their
out of the box players. In both instances I have used it with a local
server install of the software as opposed to their cloud-based service. It
is nice for scheduling and depending on what type of machine is running
the player it can handle a good amount of video content running 24/7. It
is one of the more affordable signage CMS options I could find that is
scalable to handle a variety of players, screen resolutions, and content
types (from webpages to videos, and can all be templated together in one
screen). It is easy to train staff once you get used to the little UI
quirks, of course it is a user-friendly web-based silverlight gooey so it
can be annoying at times. Additionally the notifications are solid, you¹ll
know if something has been turned off, or see if a player is offline (not
receiving updates) and you can schedule down to the second months in
advance which is great, and web access (via VPN) so I can check on it from
anywhere. The updates can be a little clunky, but in favor of being able
to quickly and easily update content we are pretty happy with it.

Best,
Anna
