Hi Ed I'm on the look out for the same, but for different reasons. The closest thing I've seen so far is the Samsung Gear VR with the straps removed, so people simply hold it in place. Needs a phone, but has no cords.
If anyone has something better, include me in the chain pls. Keir Keir Winesmith Head of Web and Digital Platforms San Francisco Museum of Modern Art Now Open! We're looking at a couple of potential applications where we'd consider VR in the galleries, but know that the throughput issues and hygiene concerns around putting on a headset would get in the way. We are looking for something that could a quicker experience, more akin to a Google Cardboard, though built for use and abuse. Any leads appreciated!
