Anything can fail, even with the most careful treatment, yet others can run
for years even with a little abuse. All my hifi components are now 5-8 yrs
old and work as good as new seemingly. My MZ-R3 has seen three years
and doesn't make any odd clicks, take unusually long to read the UTOC or
show any other signs of wearing out. It has also accompanied me on pub-
crawls where I have finished up much worse for wear than it (tripping over
an unexpected kerb, or a non-existent one, etc-- very sad really).
Anyway the *Sony* MZ-R3 is fine. And other than seriously abused units,
like peeps saying "I accidently dropped my MZ-R50 off the top of the Empire
State Bld." (slight exaggeration) Sony have a much lower problem rate than
Sharp. At least if you include Sharp UTOC probs reported on md-l anyway.
Cheers,
PrinceGaz -> Wondering if his R3 will go pants in a month or two and make
me eat all the words I've spouted on md-l (I shudder at the possibility)
